Decision Point is excited to support the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) in a pioneering project: "Diagnosing Community Health of Chennai through Wastewater Analysis". This initiative uses advanced science to build a healthier future for Chennai.

Our support enables a dedicated research team, including a Research Scientist who will focus on data analysis, visualization, and developing an online dashboard, and an Analyst responsible for sample collection, transportation to the laboratory, and initial data recording. We are also providing for advanced laboratory equipment, such as indigenous laboratory refrigerators & freezers and air and water autosamplers, along with the critical analytical supplies like chemicals and reagents needed for comprehensive wastewater analysis.

The project will focus on detecting biomarkers for diabetes, hypertension, and gout in municipal wastewater to estimate disease prevalence in real time. This tool will provide data from wastewater analysis to help public health officials make timely and informed decisions. By translating wastewater data into actionable health intelligence, this project will empower Chennai's public health efforts, contributing to the overall well-being of its residents.
